TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The search for Nancy Guthrie continues as the investigation enters its 20th day. While investigators have been less visible in the Catalina Foothills this week, support from the community is growing.
Residents of Southern Arizona and even visitors from Mexico are gathering outside the Guthrie home to pay tribute and pray for Nancy’s safe return. A religious display, placed by a woman on Thursday, includes an open letter to the kidnappers. The woman, who identifies herself as a “fellow sinner,” pleads with the kidnappers and offers prayers for them.
One woman from Nogales, who lost her son six years ago and has yet to find him, is actively searching the nearby desert for signs of Nancy.
“I feel. I don’t know. Like instead of searching here they should look for her everywhere with everyone. That’s what I think because that’s what we do. We search. We don’t stay in one place. We search the valleys, all town and hills. Actually look, because that’s our job,” Lidia Hernández with Madres Buscadoras De Sonora said.
Investigators are focusing on lab work, with DNA analysis playing a significant role. Both the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are handling calls and reviewing potential leads. PCSD says they’ll look into every lead and tip that comes in.
88-CRIME is offering an up to $102,500 reward. Separately, the FBI has a reward of up to $100,000 for information. That number is 1-800-CALL-FBI.
