Search for Nancy Guthrie enters fourth week | The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The search for Nancy Guthrie has now surpassed three weeks since the 84 year-old was last seen on Jan. 31 at her home in the Catalina Foothills.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI have received more than 40,000 leads combined. Despite the ongoing investigation, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department stated there have been no changes to the resources allocated, with hundreds of law enforcement personnel still actively working in Tucson.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has requested volunteer search groups allow investigators space to work, emphasizing that the search “is best left to professionals.” Nanos expressed appreciation for the community’s concern.

On Saturday, Guthrie’s street turned into a temporary one-way road to manage traffic congestion. Neighbors all expressed sadness over Guthrie’s disappearance, hoping for her safe return.

The investigation has heightened awareness about safety and security in the neighborhood for some residents like a man named Mark. He told News 4 Tucson that previously he and his wife would often not lock their doors.

“All of those kinds of things about security are now, people are talking about it, and wondering if they need to do something,” he said.

Beyond wanting Guthrie back in her Foothills home, neighbors are left with questions about the circumstances surrounding Guthrie’s disappearance.

“We just hope that the sheriff’s department, the FBI can solve this heinous crime and get to the bottom of it, it’s really baffling at this point, like why did it happen?” Matt Meister, who lives nearby with his wife, Aldine, told News 4 Tucson.

Another couple, who spoke Saturday, said that while the situation has left neighbors “unsettled,” the area is a safe neighborhood.

Authorities continue to try and identify a suspect captured in Guthrie’s doorbell camera from the morning of Feb. 2. PCSD reiterated this week that investigators have not ruled out the chance that multiple people are involved in Guthrie’s disappearance.
