AAA: Tucson gas prices spiking | News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The ongoing conflict with Iran is driving up prices for the second consecutive week, affecting gas costs significantly.

According to AAA, Tucson’s average gas price this morning is $3.61 per gallon, nearly 50 cents higher than last week and almost 70 cents more than a month ago.

Phoenix is experiencing similar trends, with the average price hitting $4.11 on Monday, AAA reports. Nationally, the average is nearing $3.50 per gallon.

President Trump addressed the situation on Truth Social, stating, “Short term oil prices, which will drop rapidly when the destruction of the Iran nuclear threat is over, is a very small price to pay for U.S.A., and world, safety and peace. Only fools would think differently!” said Trump.

Some lawmakers are calling on the president to tap into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. That could help offset some prices in the short term.
