More than a dozen hospitalized after a shooting at a lake party in Oklahoma

A shooting at a party at a lake near Oklahoma City sent more than a dozen people to hospitals, according to police and hospital officials.

OKLAHOMA CITY — A shooting at a lake party in Oklahoma sent more than a dozen people to the hospital Sunday night.

As of Monday morning, local officials said 13 people have been hospitalized so far as a result of the shooting near Arcadia Lake, which is about a dozen miles north of Oklahoma City.

No deaths have been reported as of 7 a.m. Eastern.

During a press conference late Sunday evening, the Edmond Police Department said the people who were injured were in “various conditions.”

Edmond police spokesperson Emily Ward said authorities received reports of shots being fired at about 9 p.m. Sunday at a gathering of young people near Arcadia Lake. She said late Sunday that no arrests had been made yet.

Ward also said 10 people were taken to hospitals while others drove themselves.

“This is obviously a very terrifying situation and we understand the concern from the public and those involved and we are working extremely hard to find the suspects,” she said.

“We’re kind of all over the metro speaking with victims and witnesses,” Ward said.

An investigation is ongoing, but police said they did not believe there was any threat to the public. State highway patrol and city police and fire officials responded to the scene after getting multiple calls about shots fired.

Arcadia Lake is located in around 13 miles north of Oklahoma City in the suburb of Edmond, a city of about 100,000. The lake is a popular place for picnicking, camping, fishing and water sports.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
