Public comment period opens on Tucson Water facility permit | Local News



TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Residents have a chance to weigh in on a significant permit amendment for the City of Tucson’s South Houghton Area Recharge Project.

The comment period for the preliminary decision to issue the amendment to the Individual Aquifer Protection Program Permit begins May 21 and ends June 19. The facility is located at 9900 E. Drexel Road in Pima County.

The permit requirements will allow Tucson Water Department to meet Aquifer Water Quality Standards at the Point of Compliance and demonstrate Best Available Demonstrated Control Technology, according to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

Residents can review the original published public notice, draft permit and draft executive summary online. Documents are also available in person at the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Record Center.
