GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. (KVOA) – Pima County’s first dog park in Green Valley is now open to the public, giving some people and their pets a place to gather and get exercise closer to home.
Canoa Dog Park opened this morning at the southeast corner of Canoa Preserve Park on Camino de la Canoa. The new park features water stations, picnic tables, agility equipment, shaded seating areas and a new gravel parking lot.
County officials say the park fills a need for Green Valley residents who previously had to drive to Sahuarita to find the nearest dog park. It is the tenth dog park maintained by Pima County Parks and Recreation and the first new county park amenity built since the completion of the county’s Parks Master Plan.
The park is open from sunrise to sunset.
“Today I realized that this was the first day that the dog park is open, it’s wonderful to have. Finally a dog park here in Green Valley. Thanks to the Pima County for providing this,” Marks said. “This is a great area. You could not ask for a better area in Green Valley to add this dog park.”
