Tucsonans can find free & discounted food at these schools, food banks & mobile sites


Local school districts and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona continue to help families who depend on meals at schools.

The Community Food Bank is distributing summer nutrition kits Monday through Friday at various locations through Aug. 5.

The kits will have a combination of
protein, grains/seeds, fruit, and juice. The Friday packs will include
either pancake mix and fruit, or cereal and milk for kids to take home
for the weekend, according to Community Food Bank spokesperson Leanna
Kruszewski.

Meanwhile, the Tucson Unified School District, Sunnyside Unified School District, Flowing Wells Unified School District and Marana Unified School District are providing breakfast and lunch, Monday through Friday, for at least part of the summer months while school is out of session.

Families with children may be eligible for SUN Bucks, a program that
provides $120 in grocery vouchers per child during the summer. Find more information at

Tuesday, June 9: Interfaith Community Services will
distribute food from 8:30–9:30 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 210 E. Lester St. Find a complete schedule here.

Wednesday, June 10: ICS will
distribute food from 8:30–9:30 a.m. at Greater Emmanuel Grace Apostolic Church, 1850 W. San Marcos. Find a complete schedule here

Thursday, June 11: ICS will
distribute food from 8:30–10 a.m. at PCC New Spirit Lutheran Church, 8701 E. Old Spanish Trail. Find a complete schedule here.

Friday, June 12: ICS will
distribute food from 8:30–9:30 a.m. at Iglesia de Centro Sanidad, 2233 E. Summit St. Find a complete schedule here.

Friday, June 12: Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona will
distribute food boxes from 8–9:30 a.m. at Avra Valley Fire Department Station 191, 15790 W. Silverbell Rd. More information at the organization’s website.

Saturday, June 13: Market on the Move offers a
package of
produce and other food for $10. Selection varies depending on
availability. Host sites are closed for the summer but the MOM warehouse, 4513 E.

Tuesday, June 16: Interfaith Community Services will

Wednesday, June 17: The Humane Society of Southern Arizona will
distribute free pet food from 4–6 p.m. at the organization’s main
campus, 635 W. Roger Rd. This is the only June distribution. More details at the organization’s website.

Thursday, June 18: ICS will
distribute food from 9–10 a.m. at Goodwill of Southern Arizona, 1920 E. Silverlake Rd. Find a complete schedule here.

Friday, June 12: ICS will

Ongoing food distribution

Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona distributes food boxes from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Fridays and from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Gabrielle Giffords Center, 3003 S. Country Club Rd. More details at the organization’s website.

Community Food Bank, Green Valley distributes food boxes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays and Fridays. 250 E. Continental Rd. Details via website. More details at the organization’s website.

Greater Vail Community ReSources Food Bank offers food distribution at from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays, noon to 4 p.m. on Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. 13105 E. Interfaith Community Services runs a food bank on the grounds of Christ the King Episcopal Church, 2820 W. Ina Rd. Distribution is 8–11 a.m. Monday through Saturday, with evening hours from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Recipients can register on site with ID proving Pima County residence. Casa Maria Soup Kitchen serves daily meals from 8:30–11:30 a.m. daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas, 352 E. 25th St. For more info, visit Casa Maria’s website.

Sahuarita Food Bank & Resource Center, 17750 S. La Cañada Dr., distributes food boxes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Find more info at the organization’s website.

University of Arizona Campus Pantry allows anyone with a CatCard to shop for a variety of grocery items using a set number of points. The pantry has two locations: On the first floor of the Student Union, and in the Health Sciences Library, 1501 N. Campbell Ave. Hours vary; find details at the organization’s website.

Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona delivers meals to your home Monday through Friday. Cost is $5 to $7 per meal. Enroll at the organization’s website.
