TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Two women were found inside a running vehicle appearing to be asleep, leading to the discovery of fentanyl, methamphetamine and more than 190 pills, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident unfolded shortly after 6 a.m. on Aug.14, in the 5000 block of South Hildreth Avenue on the southwest side. Deputies had been called to the area for a report of a man down, PCSD said.
When deputies arrived, they found a car stopped in the middle of the road with its engine still running with two women inside appearing to be asleep, according to the department.
As a safety measure, deputies blocked the vehicle with their patrol cars and placed stop sticks around it to prevent the driver from fleeing if she woke up. Both women were removed from the car without any issues, PCSD said.
The driver was taken into custody and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on multiple charges. The passenger received a citation at the scene and was released.
Deputies spotted drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle and a search turned up more than four grams of fentanyl powder, more than four grams of methamphetamine, 116 Xanax pills and 80 M30 pills, PCSD said.
