Driver dies days after Tucson wreck

A 60-year-old woman has died days after a two-vehicle crash earlier the month on Tucson’s southeast side, police said.

About 7:45 p.m. Oct. 3, Adelina Fimbres Alegria was turning left in a Toyota van from East Littletown Road onto southbound South Wilmot Road when she was struck by a Kia hatchback, Tucson police said Monday in a news release. The Toyota then struck a utility pole, the release said.

Alegria was cited for failing to stop for a stop sign and for not wearing a seatbelt, the release said.

Alegria was taken to the hospital with injuries that were believed to be minor. The Kia driver was not injured, the release said.

On Oct. 18, police were notified that Alegria had died from her injuries.

The investigation continues.
