Shoppers have a new spot to grab organic produce and health-centered groceries. Sprouts opened its latest Valley location on Friday.
The new store is located on the Southwest corner of Scottsdale and McDowell Roads, directly across from the SkySong ASU Innovation Center.
The south Scottsdale store joins another Arizona opening, with a second store welcoming its first customers on the same day in Rita Ranch, south of Tucson.
The Valley-based grocer is expanding at a rapid pace, with new stores springing up around the state and beyond. In September, an opening in Texas brought the company’s total to 500 locations.
Sprouts was founded in 2002, and launched its first store in Chandler. Over the last two decades, it has expanded into 25 states. The growing company, however, remains based in Arizona. This summer, its giant new headquarters campus, which includes a grocery store, opened in north Scottsdale. It was another one-two punch from the company, which also opened a store in Buckeye on the same day.
In September, Sprouts opened a location on Ellsworth Road in Mesa, and more Valley locations are in the works, including a new store in Goodyear.
While that West Valley development is still a ways off, the south Scottsdale store is celebrating a busy weekend. At 6:45 a.m. on Friday morning, Sprouts staff and fans gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony before the store officially opened at 7 a.m. The first 200 shoppers can receive a free reusable tote bag and a long-stemmed rose from Falcon Farms Floral. On Saturday, another 200 shoppers can get a free tote, and all weekend long, customers who sign up for a Sprouts Rewards account can get 20% off their groceries.
The new Sprouts store will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
