44-year-old man killed in west Phoenix hit-and-run crash



The fatal crash happened near 67th Avenue and McDowell Road on Wednesday night.

PHOENIX — A 44-year-old was killed in a hit-and-run crash in west Phoenix on Wednesday morning, according to the city’s police department.

Around 7:30 p.m., police were called to a car-pedestrian crash near 67th Avenue and McDowell Road.

Upon arrival, police found a man, later identified as 44-year-old Michael Arvallo, unresponsive.

The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and pronounced Arvallo dead.

Preliminary information indicates that Arvallo was crossing McDowell Road just west of 63rd Avenue, not using a crosswalk, when he was struck by a vehicle.

Police said the driver did not remain at the scene.

The involved vehicle was later located, but the driver was nowhere to be found, police said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police or SILENT WITNESS at 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO).

Arizona’s Silent Witness program allows people to send in tips and share information about crimes happening within their local communities.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case. 

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
