Tucson Roadrunners add goalie Jesper Vikman for 2026-27 season | Sports



TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The Tucson Roadrunners have added depth to their goaltending roster by bringing in Jesper Vikman on a one-year AHL deal.

The 24-year-old netminder split time between the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights and the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays during the 2025-26 campaign. Vikman appeared in 18 games with Henderson, finishing with an 8-7-3 record while posting a 3.41 goals-against average and .866 save percentage.

His single appearance with South Carolina saw him turn in a strong performance with a 1.75 goals-against average and .929 save percentage. The 2025-26 season marked career highs for Vikman in both minutes played (1,089) and wins (8) at the AHL level.

The Stockholm native has spent four seasons with Henderson since 2022, compiling a 16-18-5 record with a 3.48 goals-against average, .880 save percentage and one shutout across 41 games. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound goaltender has also logged time in the ECHL with three different organizations.

Vikman has appeared in 58 ECHL games with South Carolina, the Tahoe Knight Monsters and Savannah Ghost Pirates, posting a 31-23-2 record with a 3.13 goals-against average and .897 save percentage. He reached career highs in games played (42) and wins (24) during the 2024-25 regular season.

His playoff experience includes eight Kelly Cup Playoff appearances with Tahoe, where he went 4-4-0 with a 2.87 goals-against average and .914 save percentage. Before turning professional, Vikman spent two seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Vancouver Giants after being selected eighth overall in the 2021 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

He finished his junior career with a 36-36-3-2 record, 3.19 goals-against average and .903 save percentage in 80 games with Vancouver. Vikman earned WHL (BC Division) First All-Star Team honors in 2023 and added 14 playoff appearances with the Giants.

The Vegas Golden Knights selected Vikman in the fifth round (125th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft. He joins the Roadrunners, who serve as the AHL affiliate of the Utah Mammoth.
