MESA, AZ — A man was taken into custody after barricading himself in his home after allegedly pointing their gun at a driver Friday, according to the Mesa Police Department.
Police say that at around 3 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Val Vista Drive and U.S. 60 freeway after a report of a man in a car pointing their gun at a driver.
The suspect, 34-year-old Israel Sosa, was identified and located, and when officers tried to make a traffic stop, he fled, according to Mesa Police.
A Mesa Police Air Unit followed his car to his home in the 100 block of North 74th Street.
Police say Sosa barricaded himself in the home for several hours until his eventual surrender and was taken into custody.
Officers remain on scene as the investigation continues and the area is reopening to the public.
There were no reported injuries.
