Rare 1829 Declaration of Independence Engraving Unveiled | Sponsored Content

The R. H. Crossland Foundation Museum’s latest acquisition is an extremely rare 1829 engraving of Thomas Jefferson’s hand-written final draft of the Declaration of Independence, featuring edits by Benjamin Franklin and John Adams.

THIS IS A MUST SEE!

The latest edition to the R. H. Crossland Foundation Museum is an extremely rare 1829 engraving of Thomas Jefferson’s hand-written final draft of the Declaration of Independence.

It is a rare copy of the original that was presented to Congress in late June 1776 with corrections/additions added by Benjamin Franklin and John Adams (shown as cross outs on the document).

It is from this copy that Congress voted to approve the separation from Great Britain on July 2, 1776, and certified with a few modifications on July 4, 1776. The signing of the actual document was finalized on August 2.

There are only a handful of these engravings known to still exist, with the original safely housed in the Smithsonian.

This exceptional rarity is characteristic of the many historical documents on display at the R.H. Crossland Foundation Museum. Free and open to the public, the museum houses items spanning more than 700 years of history.

The collection includes other works from the Revolutionary War, in addition to documents from the Civil War, materials tied to the Kennedy and Lincoln assassinations, artifacts from the Space Age and Wild West and pieces connected to music icons and pop culture.

For sports enthusiasts, there are more than 400 autographed baseballs and memorabilia from notable athletes.

Come visit us at 37555 Hum Road in Carefree and take a walk through history.
