Jared Duke was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison after pleading guilty to organized retail theft and trafficking stolen property.
PHOENIX — A man will spend six and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to organized retail theft, illegally conducting an enterprise, and trafficking stolen property charges, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office said.
Jared Duke was charged as part of an “enterprise victimizing local retail establishments from Jan. 1, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2024,” according to the AG’s office.
“We don’t tolerate retail theft in Arizona,” said Attorney General Kris Mayes. “These crimes aren’t victimless; they hurt local businesses and drive up costs for all of us. Those who engage in organized retail crime will be held accountable under the law.”
The AG’s office also added that the enterprise involved in the crimes is associated with approximately $10 million in stolen merchandise.
“Arizona Attorney General’s Office Special Agents and Department of Homeland Security Investigators, working with local retail loss prevention partners, identified Duke as a booster and determined he received $22,597.25 in payments from a fencing location,” the AG’s office said.
Other co-defendants are facing charges in connection with this case, the AG’s office stated. The suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty, authorities added.
Duke is also required to pay nearly $4,900.00 in restitution, the AG’s office said.
