The sheriff’s office posted about the search near Old Highway 80 and Salome Highway Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, Gina Steffes, the suspect, was living in her RV with nine dogs. When she became aware of an investigation, Steffes moved the RV and allegedly abandoned the dogs.

MCSO said that most of the dogs have been roaming loose on the property, with some of them in kennels, and neighbors have been making complaints to the department.

Animal Crimes Detectives are investigating and have not been able to make contact with Steffes.
