PHOENIX — Changes are on the way as back-to-back storm systems approach Arizona.
Here in the Valley, rain chances will hold off until Monday as a colder system moves in from the northwest.
The storm will enter western Arizona Monday afternoon, bringing an isolated chance for the Valley. Rain will push into the high country through the evening and overnight hours. As temperatures drop overnight, rain will transition to snow above about 6,300 feet.
Winds will also increase. Expect breezy conditions over the next few days as these systems move through.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Colorado River Valley in Mohave County until 7 p.m. Sunday. The advisory also includes Coconino, Navajo and Apache counties, along with northern Yavapai County, through 7 p.m. Sunday. Wind gusts could reach 40 to 50 mph.
Stronger winds combined with dry conditions will lead to elevated wildfire danger across southeastern Arizona.
Fire Weather Watches are in effect Sunday from Casa Grande south to the Mexican border and across southeastern Arizona to the New Mexico border. Gusts could approach 40 mph.
As the storm exits, temperatures will drop. Valley highs by Tuesday will struggle to reach 80 degrees. Temperatures will rebound by midweek before another system passes north of Arizona, helping keep readings closer to seasonal levels by the end of the week.
