PHOENIX — It was a windy day across Arizona! Gusts up to 37 miles per hour were recorded at Sky Harbor, but it was even windier towards Southeast Arizona.
Tuscon saw gusts up to 58mph and Hopkins in Santa Cruz County saw a gust of 77mph! Those blustery conditions triggered air quality concerns and some damage to trees (and Halloween decorations).
The good news is the wind is dying down as we head into the weekend.
Saturday will bring easterly winds 10-20mph to the Calley, but gusts are expected to top out around 20mph. That breeze won’t be as destructive.
Cloudy skies will dominate most of Arizona for the first half of the weekend, and keep your eyes to the skies in the evening. Around 6pm, we’ll see a 20% chance of spotty showers in the Valley. Grab the jacket just in case if you’re heading out on the town at night. Temperatures will cool once again to the low 80s in Phoenix Saturday.
On Sunday, drier conditions prevail with a 10% chance of remaining sparse showers.
This moisture flowing in could bring a few spotty showers pushing north from Southern to Northern Arizona through Monday. Most spots will only see a few hundredths of an inch, though.
Another storm system could bring more rain chances and cooler temperatures to Arizona by the middle of next week. We’re tracking highs only reaching the 70s! We’ll keep you posted as we get closer.
