Shanee Page has resigned from the Altar Valley Elementary School District Governing Board, and the Pima County Superintendent of Schools Office is asking for applications to fill the seat in the district west of Tucson.
Page was elected in 2022 and had been serving as the board’s vice president, with a term running through December 2026. She resigned effective March 3, a statement from the county superintendent said. No reason for her resignation was provided.
An appointee will serve out the remainder of the year.
Altar Valley serves about 600 K-8 students in the Three Points area, with an elementary school and middle school.
“I would like to personally thank Ms. Page for her dedication and service towards education in the Altar Valley community. I wish her much success in her new endeavors. Our office will help expedite the Governing Board vacancy process going forward,” said Superintendent Dustin Williams.
Under state law, the elected county schools chief fills vacancies on school boards via appointments.
The other members of the Governing Board may recommend up to three
people for consideration to fill the seat, but Williams may opt to
appoint anyone who applies.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. on April 9, and must include an affidavit of qualification, an appointment
questionnaire, and two references, a news release from Williams’ office
said.
Application materials and instructions are available at www.schools.pima.gov/elections. Completed packets may be hand-delivered to 200 N. Stone Ave., or emailed to matthew.stamp@pima.gov.
The appointee will serve through Dec. 31, 2026, with an election in November to determine who will hold the seat for the next four-year term.
