Day 23 of Guthrie Case: DNA issues as volunteers say they’re ready to search again | The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The search for Nancy Guthrie has entered its 23rd day, with DNA evidence playing a crucial role in the investigation. However, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos highlighted challenges with some DNA found inside Guthrie’s home.

DNA remains a key factor as the investigation moves into its fourth week. The sheriff says he’s hopeful more samples will be able to get into the FBI database and also used forinvestigative genetic genealogy.

This approach involves using genetic genealogy to build a family tree from DNA, potentially tracing back to an individual. The timeline for results could span weeks, months, or even up to a year.

Investigators were back at Guthrie’s home on Sunday, canvassing the area. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department stated that hundreds of personnel from various agencies are assigned to the case, and this number is not expected to change significantly at this time.

Meanwhile, volunteer search crews say they could be out searching for Nancy again soon. A search party Sunday found a backpack near the Guthrie home. PCSD came to take it, later saying it was not related to the investigation.
