TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Interfaith Community Services hosted its annual Empty Bowls fundraiser this morning at the Tucson Chinese Cultural Center. The event aimed to raise funds for the food bank and other programs across Pima County.
Tom McKinney, CEO of Interfaith Community Services, highlighted the collaboration between ICS and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. “They really need it, they count on us, and because of events like this we are able to come through for them,” McKinney said.
Attendees enjoyed soups, desserts, and a raffle, with each taking home a handmade pottery bowl. Tickets were priced at $40, and event organizers reported selling about 1,200 tickets this year.
The funds raised will provide food, financial aid, and services for families and older adults throughout Pima County. Planning for next year’s event is set to begin tomorrow.
