TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – A 27-year-old man died after being ejected from his vehicle during a rollover crash on East Benson Highway near South Hartford Stravenue on Friday night.
Authorities say Eduardo Antonio Gil was driving a four-door sedan when he veered off the roadway and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll several times, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 5:45 p.m.
Gil was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The Rural Metro Fire District personnel transported him to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. Speed and distracted driving appear to be contributing factors, according to PCSD Traffic Unit detectives.
Gil was driving with a suspended license. The investigation is ongoing.
