A local nonprofit is asking Tucsonans to provide help survivors of domestic violence this weekend.
Emerge Center Against Domestic Abuse is hosting a Stuff-the-Bus drive from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Walmart Supercenter, 7150 E. Speedway.
With the assistance of Sun Tran and Walmart, the organization is collecting housewares, toiletries, toys and other items.

Upcoming food distributions
The Community Food Bank and other groups, such as Interfaith Community Services, are continuing to distribute food boxes to assist those experiencing hunger in our community.
Tuesday, Sept. 15: ICS is distributing free food from 8:30–10 a.m. at Connection Pointe Church, 4314 N. Romero Rd.
Wednesday, Sept. 16: ICS is distributing free food from 8:30–9:30 a.m. at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 1019 E. 31st St.
Thursday, Sept. 17: ICS is distributing free food from 9–10 a.m. at Goodwill of Southern Arizona, 1920 E. Silverlake Rd.
Friday, Sept. 18: ICS is distributing free food from 8:30–9:30 a.m. at Viva Nueva Church of God, 330 W. Nebraska St.
Sunday, Sept. 20: The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is hosting a free pet food distribution from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Humane Society’s Main Campus, 635 W. Roger Rd. Supplies are limited and the giveaway is first-come, first-served. Register for the program here.
Friday, Sept. 25: The Community Food Bank will distribute food boxes from 8–9:30 a.m. at Picture Rocks Park, 5615 N. Sanders Rd.
Ongoing food distribution efforts
Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona distributes food boxes from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 8:30 to 2 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Gabrielle Giffords Center, 3003 S. Country Club Rd.
Community Food Bank, Green Valley distributes food boxes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays and Fridays. 250 E. Continental Rd.
Greater Vail Community ReSources Food Bank offers food distribution at from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays, noon to 4 p.m. on Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. 13105 E. Colossal Cave Rd. For more information, call 520-338-2610.
Christ Community Church is giving out free food boxes from 11–11:30 a.m. weekly on Wednesdays in the rear parking lot of its campus, 530 S. Pantano Rd.
Interfaith Community Services runs a food bank on the grounds of Christ the King Episcopal Church, 2820 W. Ina Rd. Distribution is 8–11 a.m. Monday through Saturday, with evening hours from 5–6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Recipients can register on site with ID proving Pima County residence.
The Freedge A nonprofit-run food distribution center open 24 hours, seven days a week, that includes refrigerated food, located at 2831 E. Broadway. Donations of food and money are welcome.
Casa Maria Soup Kitchen serves daily meals from 8:30–11:30 a.m. daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas, 352 E. 25th St.
Sahuarita Food Bank & Resource Center, 17750 S. La Cañada Dr., distributes food boxes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, noon to 5 p.m. on Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Market on the Move offers a package of produce and other food for $10 on Saturday mornings. Selection varies depending on availability. The MOM warehouse, 4513 E. 22nd St., is open from 6–8 a.m. Rotating sites in Southern Arizona also host distribution. Find details on pop-up sites and this week’s offerings at the MOM website.
University of Arizona Campus Pantry allows anyone with a CatCard to shop for a variety of grocery items using a set number of points. The pantry has two locations, but only the site in the Sonora Room of the Student Union is open during the summer. The pantry is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Mobile Meals of Southern Arizonacan deliver a $5 to your home Monday through Friday. Enroll at the organization’s website.
