U.S. blockade on Iranian oil to start this morning | News

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (KVOA) – President Donald Trump announced a blockade of all Iranian oil following failed peace talks with Iran over the weekend.

Vice President J.D. Vance said there was no deal after negotiations between the United States and Iran wrapped up in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Following those meetings, Trump said that “effective immediately”, the U.S. Navy will prevent ships from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, accusing Iran of extorting them. The blockade began at 10 a.m. eastern time.

U.S. Central Command said it would enforce the blockade on all Iranian ports and coastal areas but not ships moving between non-Iranian ports.

Iran’s armed forces warned they would consider warships approaching the Strait of Hormuz as a violation of the two-week ceasefire.

New U.S. intelligence reporting suggests China is planning to give Iran more air defense weaponry in the coming weeks, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. If that happens, Trump said he would hit China with a 50 percent tariff.
