20-year-old woman killed in crash on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base | Top Stories

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – A 20-year-old woman died after being partially ejected from her vehicle during a rollover crash on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base early Saturday morning.

Taleah Natasha Reese was pronounced dead at the scene in the 8700 block of East Yuma Street just after 1 a.m. A 16-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Tucson Police Department patrol officers responded to the crash. Personnel from Tucson Fire Department and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Fire Department evaluated the vehicle’s occupants.

TPD Traffic detectives, along with DMAFB Security Forces, the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations and military collision reconstruction specialists continued the investigation. Investigators say Reese was driving a 2013 Lexus westbound on Yuma Street when she failed to negotiate a slight curve and drove off the right side of the roadway.

Reese then overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. The car crossed the roadway and rolled over.

Neither Reese nor the passenger was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Investigators identified failure to maintain control of the vehicle as the primary contributing factor in the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.
